Could Southland, Trauma and Criminal Intent be victors in Leno frenzy?

If, and it’s yet to be confirmed, NBC is spiking the ill-considered prime-time Jay Leno Show from the 10 p.m. ET weeknight slot, it will need dramas (dramas that NBC has NOT invested in, though of course this huge cost savings was never the reason that NBC decided to celebrate comedy and stick Leno in the 10 p.m. slot).

Seems like a perfect solution for NBC to swallow its pride and revisit decisions to cancel the L.A. cop melodrama Southland (which is commissioned for a second season but cancelled before airing; it’s airing on U.S.-only cable outlet TNT starting Jan. 12) and Trauma (the cancellation of this medical rescue drama, also set in L.A. was less undeserved, but the show had some fans and is better than Leno at his best)?

And wouldn’t it make perfect sense for NBC to bring Law & Order Criminal Intent back from the backwoods of erratic scheduling and give it a good two-month run on a regular night and time?

Just saying.

What other shows would you like to see NBC stick in place of the hopefully cancelled Jay Leno Show, weeknights at 10 p.m. ET?
