Gourmet mag is gone, but Ruth Reichl is here, with her new TV show

Are you still grieving for Gourmet magazine, killed off last fall? Ruth Reichl, editor-in-chief of the esteemed cooking and travel magazine/bible, appears to be doing just fine. She’s tweeting like a fiend (@ruthreichl), and of course we have her books to console ourselves (Tender at the Bone, Comfort Me With Apples, and Garlic and Sapphires). But I need a little more.

Fortunately, her new TV series for PBS, Gourmet’s Adventures with Ruth, is finally available to regular cable subscribers here in Montreal, even though it’s months after its debut on other PBS stations. It kicks off Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 p.m. ET on PBS Vermont (WETK).

In the series, Reichl and celebrity friends eat and shop in foodie locales (Lorraine Bracco in Marrakech Dianne Wiest in Bath, England; Tom Skerritt in Seattle; Jeffrey Wright in NYC’s little India).

Perfect show for a little cocooning.
