Primary cast and crew
Michael Chiklis (The Shield, Commish) is Jim Powell, who feels his family is drifting and feels powerless to stop it.

Julie Benz (Dexter, Desperate Housewives) is Stephanie Powell, ambitious research scientist on the verge of another 20 hour day.

Romany Malco (40 Year Old Virgin, Weeds) is George St. Cloud, Jim’s best friend.

Kay Panabaker (Summerland) is Daphne Powell, a typical text-obsessed teenager.

Jimmy Bennett (Star Trek) is JJ Powell, who has trouble at school.

Stephen Collins (7th Heaven) is Dr. Dayton King. Let’s wait on this one, shall we?

Buzz buzz
ABC is hoping this is the next Heroes. Well, Heroes as it was for the first two seasons.

But what do I know anyway? After having seen an early version of the pilot I predict…
“You were extraordinary before you could catch a bullet.” That one of the characters can catch a bullet is not a surprise if you’ve seen any of the many, many promos for this show. That the theme of the show should be spelled out so bluntly and unimaginatively IS a surprise. And makes me a little afraid that there is more heavyhandedness in store. Which is too bad, because this looks like it could be a fun run suitable for family viewing. There is also the problem of the structure in the pilot, which has the mother and father directly addressing the camera telling the story of what’s happened to their family. That too is awkward and obvious. By the end, it also introduces … well let’s call it a challenge and see if the series can maintain this storytelling quirk.
