It’s pretty much the end of the major premieres tonight with Law and Order: Los Angeles. Here’s a list of the new and returning series followed by a look at the new Law and Order spinoff and a new horror comedy show on Space.

New on Wednesday, Sept. 29

Todd and the Book of Pure Evil debuts on Space at 9 p.m. ET

Law & Order: Los Angeles on NBC at 10 p.m. ET (repeating Saturday on CTV)

Supernatural returns on Space at 10p.m. ET

Series name
Law and Order: Los Angeles

Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at 10 p.m . ET on NBC and Saturday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV

Regularly airs
Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC and CTV

It’s, like, Law and Order. Cops in the first half, courtroom in the second half. But now, it’s not in New York.

Primary cast and crew
Skeet Ulrich (Jericho, CSI: NY) is Detective Rex Winters

Corey Stoll (Salt, NCIS) is Detective Tomas “T.J.” Jaruszalski

Alfred Molina (Sorcerer’s Apprentice, An Education) is Deputy District Attorney Morales

Peter Coyote (FlashForward, NCIS) is District Attorney

Terrence Howard (Iron Man) is Deputy District Attorney Jonah “Joe” Dekker

Megan Boone (My Bloody Valentine, Sex and the City 2) is Deputy District Attorney Lauren Stanton

Regina Hall (Scary Movie, Law Abiding Citizen) is Deputy District Attorney Evelyn Price

Buzz buzz
If you keep the same creative spark — Montreal-born Rene Balcer — will the Law and Order franchise survive a cross-country move? Or are we, gulp, moving into a post-Law and Order era?

The unreview: After NOT having seen the pilot I predict…
I am not ready for a post-Law and Order era. Plus this is a very interesting cast, with a lot of very strong actors. I’m curious how well they’ll play together, especially Terrence Howard.

Real reviews
The Chicago Sun-Times interviews Balcer and looks at the show. The New York Times confirms that, yes, Law and Order has gone Hollywood, but not in a bad way.

Series name
Todd and the Book of Pure Evil

Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. ET on Space (two back-to-back half-hour episodes)

Regularly airs
Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Space

High school is hell. Thank god there’s a Book of Pure Evil in the trophy case to give our heroes exactly what they want. In the pilot, that means Todd gets to be the heavy-metal-guitar god. But there’s always a price to pay.

Primary cast and crew
Alex House (Dark Oracle) is Todd, stoner.

Maggie Castle (Time Traveler’s Wife) is Jenny, “righteous babe” and reluctant sidekick.

Bill Turnbull (Being Erica) is Curtis, Todd stoner pal.

Melanie Leishman (True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet) is Hannah, brainiac.

Jason Mewes (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Degrassi: The Next Generation) is Jimmy, school custodian and occasional source of wisdom.

Buzz buzz
Jason Mewes talks about his role and how much he likes working in Canada.

The review: After having seen the first two episodes, I predict…
Todd and the Book of Pure Evil sounded on paper like a small-screen Evil Dead, the Sam Raimi classic film series starring Bruce Campbell and featuring a powerful book of evil called the Necronomicon. Which I love. But while this series has a couple of funny moments, most featuring Jason Mewes) and a good look, I found it a little tedious. Could it be that I am not in the demographic of foul-mouthed stoners who dream of being heavy-metal guitar gods?

Real reviews
Bill Harris of the Sun newspapers says it’s good fun, and Brad Oswald of the Winnipeg Free Press says it’s crazy silly fun.

Wondering when the other new series and returning series are kicking off?
